With a double-letter-laden first name, my mission in life is to save the world, one reader at a time. After graduating with a degree in Chinese from Reed College, I spent three years in rural Japan. There I discovered that one could work for social justice by teaching. So I became a Teach for America corps member in 2002 and have been teaching in American urban public schools ever since. Presently, I teach fourth grade in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. And when I’m not lesson-planning, I enjoy reading, knitting, playing Scrabble, cycling and making cuddly skins for robots.
